NHS Contract Changes – 1 October 2025
You might be aware of News reports today that there are changes regarding ‘contact with the practice’ for 2025/26. Differing Radio and TV Channels are all reporting differing information.
The change relating to information technology is actually that the Practice is required to have online consultation access between 0800 to 1830 hours. This is also known as online triage. You can access the Website for the Practice and submit a form using the yellow box called ‘Online Patient Triage’. A Doctor is allocated your form and we will respond to you as soon as practicable. Typically, you will receive an acknowledgement and the Doctor will get back in approximately two days. Be mindful this way of contact is certainly not for emergency or serious problems. If you do submit such a form, we will respond telling you to phone in the usual way.
Online Triage:
· For non-urgent presentations and requests only.
· Completed forms received at the Practice will be responded to as soon as practicable.
· Limited number of submissions available. If system states it is “shut”, we have not turned it off, will have reached the capacity and the function ceases until the next session opens.
· Remember if your presentation or request is urgent, please phone the Practice in the normal way.
This way of contact does not necessarily demand that a GP must specifically be on site to undertake or assist in any required activity. Flexibility is required to allow GPs to undertake visits, interpret results and look at letters for example.
Some News reports are stating that resources have increased to enable many more appointments on the day. This is not the case and we continue with the same number of personnel in the Practice.
York Street Practice already facilitates appointments on the day, most days. Many occasions when we cannot secure an appointment is because the Doctor you wish to see does not work on the day you have phoned. A list of days the Doctors work are on this website.
The whole Practice take the opportunity to thank our patients, specifically for the understanding when calling us. A majority who wish to have a Face-to-Face appointment are content that the doctor will phone them and if there is a clinical need, arrange to the patient on the day. We would like you to continue using the phone as your first choice, as this has enabled us to see and care for you for many years.
The usual amount of Face-to-Face appointments each day remain in place and the online pre bookable appointments have not changed.
Thank you again.
York Street Medical Practice.
