As individual doctors our first priority is good clinical care but we also have to ensure that our limited resources are well spent for the benefit for our practice population as a whole. At the present time the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which hold the budget for all NHS treatment in this area is working under financial pressure. They are asking us to review all our options before referral to a hospital specialist.
As a result, if your doctor feels you need care that they cannot provide personally, they will discuss with the other doctors who is the best person to see you. This may be another GP either at York Street or another practice. It may be decided that further tests would be more appropriate before referral. We will ensure that there is no delay in referral if there is any urgency. However, in some non-urgent areas the CCG is not currently funding NHS treatment, e.g. skin tags/warts. We will explain this if it is the case.
